Kokoda Challenge Update

21/03/2017
Our students are starting to engage in regular training activities to prepare for this year’s Kokoda Challenge events. We are currently holding weekly Wednesday afternoon hikes from the school to the Springwood Conservation Park, and regular Sunday morning hikes scheduled as part of our build-up to the events.

The students participating in the training hikes are showing a high level of enthusiasm and are very chatty throughout our hikes. On our most recent Sunday hike over Mt Coot-tha a number of other hikers commented on how much they seem to be enjoying themselves based on the level of conversation and the amount of laughter within the group. In fact, some of the loudest laughter occurred during the challenging descent of Kokoda (a particularly steep track on Mt Coot-tha).

We are looking forward to our next Sunday morning session is planned for 26 March and will be another 12km hike over Mt Coot-tha – this time in reverse so that we will be climbing Kokoda. All participating students are encouraged to attend and all staff, students and their families are welcome to join us.

Fundraising BBQ

We have booked the Bunnings BBQ at the Underwood store on Kingston Road for Saturday 1 April. Families of students who are participating in the Kokoda Challenge events are asked to assist with running the BBQ. Any other staff, students or family members who would like to assist are very welcome.

If you can help out or if you have any questions, me by email (sbake137@eq.edu.au) or by telephone on 3380 6152.
